The Village on Blain provides mine-site accommodation and is seeking an experienced and motivated full-time Sous Chef to join our team in Blackwater.

Reporting to the Head Chef, you will be responsible for ensuring all safety and quality processes are followed and exceed customer expectations for healthy and delicious food offering, whilst being in line with contractual requirements. This is a rare opportunity to display your passion, team management and culinary experience.

The role

You will assist in all food operations within the Village including breakfast, lunch and dinner with responsibility for:

Effective management of P&L and food costs

Effective management of kitchen operations/logistics including stock control

Managing client expectations

Creative seasonal menu planning and implementation

Training and development of existing staff

Supervising chefs and kitchen staff in relation to day-to-day operations

Compliance with health, safety and environment requirements

What you will receive

Success criteria

Diploma in Hospitality Management or higher (essential)

Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (essential)

Minimum five-year experience as a Sous Chef including in a commercial kitchen (essential)

High volume catering (essential)

Sound understanding and application of HACCP

Experience in a mining village operation preferred but all professional kitchen experience considered

Strong leadership skills, self-motivated and can demonstrate initiative on the job

Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service and management

Flexibility to work rostered hours to meet operational requirements.

Previous leadership experience preferred

Previous experience working in a remote setting desired
