Minimum 2-3 years’ professional experience in IT support, systems administration, or similar roles

Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and networking issues

Familiarity with scripting or programming (Python, PowerShell, BASH)

Experience with virtualisation platforms and cloud technologies (e.g. Azure)

Experience providing basic coordination or supervision of junior staff or contractors

What desirable attributes should you have?

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Proactive problem-solving mindset leveraging engineering troubleshooting methodologies

Ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands independently

Willingness to support and develop others in the team

Commitment to high-quality outcomes and attention to detail

Flexibility to work across a range of IT and OT technologies

Enthusiasm for learning and adapting to emerging systems and client requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor, maintain, and support IT systems (servers, workstations, networking, software)

Provide technical support for OT systems, including industrial control and manufacturing technology

Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls

Ensure compliance with cybersecurity measures, internal policies, and Defence security standards

Provide guidance to part-time team members or contractors

Develop and maintain system documentation and user guides

Train staff on IT systems usage and security protocols

Identify opportunities for system and process improvements

Assist with implementation of enterprise software solutions, including ERP systems

Workplace Environment:

Office-based in Canberra with travel to other Secure Bits and client sites (domestic, with the potential for occasional international travel)
