About the Opportunity
The Quality Assurance Officer reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is accountable to the Director Corporate Services. The position incumbent is responsible for supporting the organisation to maintain quality, risk, compliance and governance systems. The occupant works collaboratively with a wide range of people from within and beyond the organisation to achieve quality improvements and strategic goals and act as a resource for all employees within the organisation on quality, risk and governance issues.
About You
To be considered for this position, candidates must be able to clearly demonstrate their ability to meet the below Essential Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to quality and compliance principles.
Demonstrated experience in the use of quality processes, including outcome measures/ performance indicators, performance monitoring, benchmarking and review.
Highly developed interpersonal skills including consultation skills and the ability to proactively establish and sustain effective stakeholder relationships.
Strong organisational skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines.
Well-developed ability to undertake research and to prepare, collate and organise data.
Detailed knowledge of standards, legislation and guidelines relevant to AGPAL accreditation and health administration.
Understanding of the issues including social determinants affecting Aboriginal people health status in contemporary Australian society.
Understanding of audit processes related to AGPAL Standards and internal audit experience.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
In addition to the above, the desirable criteria are:
The person identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is acknowledged as such by their community.
Certificate IV or Diploma in Risk Management/Quality Assurance is highly desirable
The position involves working with a multicultural organisation where the majority of staff, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) and Working With Children Check (where applicable) prior to appointment, in order to be eligible for the position.
Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in Australia and will be required to provide evidence of this entitlement. Acceptable evidence includes an Australian or New Zealand passport, birth certificate, or foreign passport with relevant visa.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with remote Aboriginal communities and make a drastic impact to the health and well-being outcomes of these communities.
PAMS operates five sites, supported by a range of clinicians, community health workers and other ancillary workers. Although the successful candidates will have a substantive location (Newman) they must be prepared from time to time to work across any one of these sites should they be required.
PAMS operates in some of the most remote parts of Australia and staff are required to be proficient at driving a 4WD vehicle and willing to fly in light aircraft.
About the Organisation
The Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service located in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia and provides comprehensive and culturally appropriate primary health care services to the Martu people of Newman and the four remote Aboriginal communities of Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji.
With an administrative hub based in Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, The Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) provides holistic primary health care and community health programs services to the individuals and families within Newman and the remote communities of Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji.
