About the Role

Prowall Construction is seeking an experienced and proactive Leading Hand to join our growing team in commercial and civil and tier one (EBA) projects across Melbourne. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality retaining wall and earthworks projects across Victoria. This position suits someone who takes ownership, leads by example, and is confident in coordinating site operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Site Leadership & Coordination

Lead, motivate and coordinate a small team to ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

Communicate effectively with Directors, Site Supervisors, and teammates to maintain smooth workflow.

Plan and sequence works to meet project timelines and quality standards.

Technical Skills

Accurately read and interpret construction plans, engineering drawings, and site setouts.

Understand and apply Reduced Levels (RLs), benchmarks, and site levels to ensure precise installation.

Conduct quality checks to ensure works align with design specifications and tolerances.

Machinery Operation

Competently operate excavators, skid steers, and other heavy plant as required.

Maintain equipment in clean, safe, and serviceable condition.

Materials & Logistics

Liase with Operations team to order and coordinate materials and deliveries in line with site progress and upcoming stages.

Liase with Operations team to manage stock levels and report shortfalls or variations promptly.

Professional Conduct

Be punctual, reliable, and respectful at all times.

Uphold company values in communication, presentation, and work ethic.

Follow all safety procedures, SWMS, and site protocols without exception.

Requirements

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in civil, structural, or retaining wall construction.

Competent in reading plans and using laser levels and setout tools.

Current Driver’s Licence and White Card (essential).

Excavator and Skid Steer tickets (Non-essential but highly preferred).

Working With Children's Check (Non-essential but highly preffered).

Your own Hand tools & Power tools.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Willingness to travel and work across Victoria, including STAYFO / away work as required.
