ABOUT THE ROLE
As the ICT Officer, you will be a key player in supporting and maintaining the critical systems that drive day-to-day operations across North Burnett Regional Council. Reporting to the ICT Coordinator, this role is central to delivering responsive helpdesk support, managing hardware and software, and contributing to the smooth operation of our networks, devices, and digital platforms.
You will work closely with staff across all departments, providing technical advice, troubleshooting, and training with a strong customer service mindset. From rolling out new equipment to maintaining ICT documentation and asset registers, you’ll bring both structure and initiative to everything you do.
While some tasks may feel familiar, this role offers genuine variety. You could be resolving a service request one day and assisting with system upgrades or projects the next – no two days are exactly the same. This is a great opportunity to build your ICT career in a supportive, regional setting where your contribution makes a real impact.
ABOUT YOU
You are a proactive and solutions-focused ICT professional who enjoys variety in your work and takes pride in delivering high-quality support to end users. With a strong technical foundation and a commitment to customer service, you thrive in environments where no two days are the same.
You demonstrate initiative, sound judgement, and the ability to prioritise tasks in a dynamic setting. Whether you are resolving a helpdesk request, installing new systems, or contributing to project delivery, you bring attention to detail and a methodical approach to everything you do.
Your communication skills allow you to explain technical concepts clearly to a diverse range of stakeholders, and you are comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. You are also open to learning and adaptable to new technologies, systems, and challenges.
You already hold a current ‘C’ class driver licence, and have relevant qualifications in Information and Communication Technology, (or are currently undertaking formal study in the field). You also bring hands-on experience supporting networks, hardware, software, and mobile devices in a business environment. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 is essential, and the ability to quickly learn Council systems such as MagiQ will set you up for success. A general understanding of the local government sector will be highly regarded.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Implement and maintain computer hardware, software, backups, networks, mobile devices, and related systems.
Support system users with specialist technical advice, troubleshooting and training.
Maintain and deliver high level of customer service whilst undertaking ICT helpdesk activities, ensuring service requests are correctly prioritised and scheduled jobs are executed.
Prioritise, troubleshoot and communicate urgent works for planned and unplanned maintenance.
Assist in delivering projects such as desktop hardware and software renewals and installations.
Develop and maintain technical and procedure documentation including ICT asset registers.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Council’s ICT systems and processes.
Coordinate user account management.
Build and maintain effective business relationships through effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
