Aboriginal Family Support Services (AFSS) is a lead, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that has been providing services to Aboriginal families and communities across South Australia for over 40 years.

Cultural Services Program

AFSS Training Facilitator will be responsible for the development and implementation of internal training across AFSS Services and for sourcing and assessing any external training being considered for AFSS staff. The Training Facilitator also plays a key role in coordinating the participation by AFSS staff in sector wide training including, for example, Safe Environments for Children and Young People - Through their Eyes Certificate (Formerly CSE).

This program will be based in Adelaide SA 5000.

Your new role

The Training Facilitator will lead, develop and implement the training programs for AFSS in- line with organisational needs. This involves designing and planning learning sessions, managing group-dynamics, facilitating discussions, addressing diverse learning style, and evaluating the effectiveness of training sessions. By applying various methodologies and tools such as active learning techniques, group discussions, online platforms, and multimedia presentation tools to engage participants, promote understanding, and facilities the practical application of knowledge, while adapting to the specific context of the training, subject matter, and group’s characteristics.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a passionate and culturally aware Training Facilitator to join our team at Aboriginal Family Support Services (AFSS).

  • Manage the preparation of all training resources, facilities and logistical requirements (venues, etc) and ensure these are organised well in advance of training dates.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a forward training calendar for AFSS employees.
  • When required in consultation with AFSS Managers review AFSS internal training programs to ensure they are up to date and reflect current and emerging trends.
  • The ideal candidate will be committed to empowering Aboriginal communities through education and capacity building.
  • Deep understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and community dynamics, ability to deliver engaging, respectful, and inclusive training sessions to diverse audiences.
  • Skilled in tailoring content to suit different learning styles and community needs. Strong communication, time management, and organisational skills.

To be successful you will need

  • A South Australian Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • A NDIS Workers Check
  • National Police Clearance
  • A Safe Environments for Children and Young People Certificate
  • A current South Australian Drivers Licence
  • Unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia
  • Qualifications in Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
