Join Mackay Regional Council's Field Services Team!
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Leading Hand Construction to join our Infrastructure & Operations department at the Paget Depot. This hands-on supervisory role is ideal for someone who thrives in civil construction and is ready to lead a day labour crew and subcontractors in delivering quality infrastructure projects.
Classification: Outdoor Banded Level 6/7
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time (38 hours/week)
Roster: 9 Day Fortnight
Location: Paget Depot
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate civil construction projects including roads and drainage infrastructure.
- Ensure safety, quality, timeliness, and customer satisfaction across all assigned projects.
- Provide guidance and support to team members under remote supervision.
- Promote and enforce Workplace Health and Safety standards.
- Monitor job sites for plant and equipment efficiency and safety compliance.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Current QLD Manual Car 'C' Class Open Driver's Licence
- General Construction Safety 'White' Card
- Traffic Controllers Ticket (preferred)
- First Aid Certificate (preferred)
- Experience supervising small to medium-sized teams
- Strong background in road and drainage construction
- Competency in operating machinery such as roller, loader, backhoe, grader
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction (highly regarded)

Salary & Benefits
- Annual Salary: $69,524.91 - $71,982.46 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
- Superannuation: Up to 18% (conditions apply)
- Leave: Choice of 4 or 5 weeks' annual leave with 17.5% leave loading
