We are seeking a full time Head Chef at our kitchen that services Ugly Baby, our Middle Eastern & Mediterranean fun-dining restaurant and Pink Taquito our Mexican taco pop-up bar!

Both located at Stories, the hospitality precinct that is lighting up Yagan Square, Perth CBD.

Ugly Baby - 150pax, open Wednesday - Sunday with a focus on bottomless brunch every Saturday! Our Ugly Baby is all about shared dining, quick service, table turns and quality!

Pink Taquito - 110pax, open Wednesday - Saturday (til late) with a hybrid bar/QRs/bookings keeping things lively. This brand was only launched in Feb '25 and has exceeded all expectations - Bring on Summer!

You'll be working & leading an experienced & passionate team including lots of support from the wider Stories & head office to deliver dishes while managing wages, cogs and ensuring consistency.

Stories is presented by the award-winning Perth hospitality operator - Nokturnl, the team who brought you The Old Synagogue | Tonic + Ginger, The Beaufort | Lotus and South Perth’s The Station | Ludo.

Successful applicants must have Australian Working Rights and be located in Perth WA.

Key skill requirements;

Previous Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef experience required

Ability to lead a team from the front while being hands on for key services

Experience balancing rosters with your own service/prep/admin hours

Ensure targets are met with labour and food costs

Running of the kitchen on a day to day basis - ordering to targets/covers, invoicing management

Experience with Cooking The Books is very advantageous

Development of the kitchen brigade and our junior team into our next stars!

A love for hospitality and working constructively with our front of house teams

Passionate about food - research & development, seasonal menu updates, events & keeping things fresh! We have many opportunities for thinking outside the box and value adds.

Great hygiene practices + Supervisor Safety Cert.

Punctual and reliable, a true leader in every sense.

Work quickly & professionally in a fast-paced kitchen with the ability to problem solve

Keen eye for presentation and attention to detail

Experience in Middle Eastern & Mediterranean cooking techniques is a preferred but not essential
