247 Fuels remains a Sutherland Shire based, onsite refuelling company servicing a diverse range of customers across the Sydney metro area. We are industry leaders in onsite refuelling, with a reputation as being the most reliable and customer focused company in the market.

As we grow the business further, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Manager to join our small team. This role requires flexibility from the post holder to match those worked by our drivers as/when this is necessary, typical working hours are flexible and normally between 7.00 am and 3.30 pm. The role will on occasions require evening/weekend work depending on business need.

The Role
The role is standalone, working to establish, develop and implement improvements and enhancements to our existing safety processes and deliver comprehensive safety systems that meet all legal requirements, including but not limited to Heavy Vehicle National Law and Regulations and Chain or Responsibility.

You will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and have a significant degree of autonomy to design and deliver safety systems and process to support the safety of our people and our developing operational requirements.

You will:

Monitor and advise on compliance associated with the Heavy National Vehicle Law (HVNL) and Regulations and workplace health and safety and environmental legislation to deliver safe driving and working practices across the driver group and the wider business.

Proactively ensure the timely planning, prioritisation, organisation, documentation and delivery of all 247 Fuels and customer site induction activities taking account of changing operational and business requirements.

Develop, prepare and deliver training, information and coaching/awareness sessions to inform and upskill stakeholders at all levels of the business to support the delivery of health, safety, environmental and quality initiatives.

Co-ordinate, document, monitor and report on return-to-work activities for ill/injured workers proactively engaging with all involved parties to facilitate the safe, timely and effective return to work.

Lead on the timely investigation and reporting of incidents/accidents and near misses to determine likely causes and work with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate corrective actions.

Review existing safety and risk management processes, developing an IRMS framework to ensure the ongoing visibility of key performance indicators, to deliver safe, effective work practices, in line with changing business and legislative requirements.

Lead on the development, implementation and review of regular internal and external audit activities to ensure ongoing transparency, accountability and reporting on all HSEQ matters,

The physical requirements of the role include being willing and able to physically demonstrate safe working practices associated with safe mount/dismount of company trucks and the fuelling and refuelling of company trucks and customer construction equipment (scrapers, dozers, excavators, front end loaders) with a fuel hose for refuelling activities, in a range of customer environments and in all weather conditions. These include:

Sustained and dynamic unilateral should flexion below and at shoulder height;

Frequent reaching from waist to shoulder height;

Full functional bilateral, hand, wrist and elbow movements;

Bending, squatting and trunk rotation;

Climbing into/out of trucks using 3 points of contact;

Lifting up to 20 kgs;

Use of body weight to move the fuel hose to the refuelling position;

We are open to considering reasonable adjustments where this is reasonably practicable within the scope of the role.

Given the nature of our work, a willingness to travel regularly in the Sydney Metro area as and when required is an inherent requirement of the role. A driver’s licence and own transportation are essential.

247 Fuels requires all those operating or working in/around heavy vehicles to undertake drug and alcohol testing as part of a pre-employment medical and on an ongoing basis as a condition of employment.
