About Staines Memorial College

Redbank Plains, QLD, Australia
Education, Training & Professional Development

“Building a community for eternity” through Christ-centred schooling in an atmosphere of love, respect, peace and discipline which will encourage students to achieve their full potential for God.

Staines Memorial is an attractive affordable schooling option for families in Ipswich. We are committed to working with families to help them discover God’s love and respond to His love. The first and most important school for a child is their family. We believe that the education of young people is a shared responsibility. Parents and teachers are role models and so have the privilege and responsibility to be the best they can.

This will involve staff and parents participating in learning to improve their understanding and skills. Our College has a non-denominational Christian ethos and caters for children from a wide variety of Christian backgrounds and traditions. It also caters for families who – though not necessarily Christian themselves desire a Christian school culture and educational experience for their children. All staff are committed Christian people from various denominational backgrounds selected for their professional competence as well as for their sense of calling to the ministry of a Christian school.

We are a Christian Community Ministry (CCM) school and so work closely with sister schools across Australia. Additionally we benefit from relationships with a range of training organisations through-out Queensland, and through our membership of Christian Schools Australia (CSA) and Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ). We focus on training young people to learn to depend on God, give of their best in all circumstances and not limit their potential. In God’s kingdom, He needs professionals and tradespeople – one type of career is not more important than another. In 1 Corinthians 12 we read of how even the least is most important and that we all need each other

Visions and Values

Our values and priorities

Relationships:

We seek to develop a lasting rich relationship with God which will influence everything we do. Lu 12:13-21

This involves learning to love others as Jesus loves us. Mk 12:30, 31

Respect:

Respecting God provides a foundation for:

◾respecting yourself (this involves looking after yourself)

◾respecting others (treating others as you would like to be treated) Lu 6:31

◾respecting property (caring for our environment & making restitution for any damage caused)

Responsibility:

Accepting personal responsibility for your actions and your learning involves:

◾admitting when you don’t know something / need help

◾admitting when you have made a mistake / failed (refer below)

◾learning from the experience asking for God’s help to become what He wants

Readiness for the future:

Preparing young people to become active and informed citizens for this world and beyond involves:

◾being ready to work

◾giving of your best in all situations

◾being a team player – helping and encouraging

◾seeking advice

Reasoning:

God in his word, the Bible, instructs us to seek spiritual wisdom and understanding. Col 1:8-11. This involves:

◾Knowing what you do & why you do it

◾Knowing what you believe and why you believe it 1 Jn 5:20, Ac 17:11.

Our view on success and failure:

Failure enables God to deepen my dependence on Him. Success is submitting to God’s goal of Christ likeness for my life – regardless of the outcome Rom 8:28-29. Biblical success involves:

◾Living under the authority of God. Leviticus 18:4

◾Following the leadership of the Lord. Proverbs 3:5,6

◾Living in dependence on the strength of Christ. Philippians 4:13

◾Growing in the character of Christ. Romans 8:29
