Predictive Recruitment Partners has been engaged by Burgess Design Group to find an experienced and highly organised Administration Specialist to join their dedicated, professional team.

About Burgess Design Group:
Burgess Design Group is a town planning consultancy specialising in strategic & statutory planning, urban design, and land assembly.

Using experience and industry contacts to break through the complexities of the planning system, Burgess Design Group provides its clients with carefully crafted and professional solutions. The team’s experience includes decades of private consulting, urban design, architectural design, and land assembly.

Collaboration is a core part of their approach, streamlining processes to minimise time and costs and putting clients’ projects at the centre, while also promoting a caring and successful workplace culture.

Everyone in the team works hard, efficiently, and respectfully, employing a business-owner’s mindset ensuring we’re all focused on the same goal: successful delivery of the project.

About the role:
This part-time, task-oriented role is offered as a 12-month contract to cover maternity leave. The primary focus of the role is to ensure project milestones are invoiced accurately and on time.

In this role, you will spend most of your time working in an administrative capacity, making sure that nothing gets missed, while adhering to established guidelines and procedures to produce work that is highly polished and accurate.

Crucial tasks include:

  • Invoicing, accounts receivable/accounts payable, payroll/superannuation, PAYG
  • Checking emails regularly, actioning tasks where required
  • General administration and office management
  • Answering phones and attending to reception duties
  • Assisting the town planners with report compilation and lodgements
  • Meeting and greeting clients and consulting colleagues.

The work is highly precise in nature and requires very strong attention to detail. It is vital for the work output to be of high quality, with patience and conscientiousness being key elements. There are clearly established procedures and processes to be followed and, since much of the work is consistent from one day to the next, it is generally feasible to plan large blocks of work ahead of time.

The position also requires an ability to work independently and the confidence to communicate directly with clients (including management of debtors), suppliers, the broader community and the team.

About you:
You probably describe yourself as thorough, disciplined, and accurate while enjoying being of service to others. You thrive in a professional environment where there are clear rules and structure. You are a willing and helpful team member who seeks to create efficiencies and produce work of an exceptionally high standard. You prepare thoroughly and take steps to reduce any risk of error.

You’re concerned about work being done correctly and you pride yourself on completing tasks on time and without error. You are disciplined and work best when the work, your responsibilities, and your reporting relationships are clearly defined.

You enjoy formulating a plan and working to the plan to ensure results are achieved within the agreed timeframe.

Your interaction with clients and colleagues is focused on providing helpful support in a pleasant yet professional manner.

What you bring to the role:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping
  • Extensive experience with invoicing and communicating with debtors and creditors
  • A desire to follow a clearly defined process thoroughly and conscientiously
  • A high degree of accuracy, follow-through, and accountability
  • A reserved and diligent approach to work
  • A desire to create predictability and efficiency to workflows
  • The ability to prioritise work in order to meet deadlines.

What we can provide:

  • A 12-month contract, working 3 days per week (or equivalent hours over 5 days as may be agreed), in an environment that is professional, caring, and friendly
  • A collegial office environment where everyone works as part of the same team
  • Competitive remuneration
  • Onsite parking (the office is also located close to public transport)

What you must have to apply for this role:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping
  • Previous, extensive invoicing experience with MYOB
  • Experience communicating with debtors and creditors, including following up with late payers
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally
  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word and Excel
  • Excellent phone manner and spoken/written communication skills
  • Work rights to work without restriction in Australia
  • Current WA driver’s licence.
