About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Java Team Lead to guide a small, agile team of up to five developers in our GPayments business unit (gpayments.com). You'll contribute actively to development while leading through mentoring, architecture decisions, and agile best practices.

This is a hybrid role based in Chatswood, NSW, with flexible work-from-home options (must be located in Australia).

Key Responsibilities

· Lead a team of Java Developers across multiple projects

· Work closely with Product Managers to define priorities and requirements

· Perform hands-on coding, code reviews, and architectural design

· Provide coaching, support, and technical guidance to the team

· Drive agile processes and support continuous integration/delivery

· Collaborate across teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions

About You

You're not just a great Java Developer—you’re a mentor, a team player, and someone who thrives in a collaborative environment.

You’ll need:

· 3+ years of full-stack Java development experience

· Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and SDLC

· Familiarity with:

o APIs (REST, JSON)

o Linux

o CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab)

o AWS (EC2, S3, RDS), Docker, Kubernetes

o Databases (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, or MSSQL)

· Great communication skills and stakeholder engagement

· A tertiary qualification in IT, Software Engineering, or a related field

Bonus Points For:

· Experience in payment or authentication technologies

· A passion for clean, maintainable code and technical mentoring

Salary & Benefits

· Salary: $100,000–$120,000 + Super
