HorizonOne Recruitment
Posted 11 days ago
This large Australian government department is focused on improving the working lives of people across the country. They develop and deliver employment programs, lead national reform and build the capability of the public service to reflect the values they champion: respect, fairness and accountability.
They’re currently investing in culture, people and performance. Now’s your chance to join an organisation in transformation, where your work will directly contribute to a stronger, more supportive workplace culture.
The Opportunity
This role offers a unique chance to work on high-impact matters that directly shape workplace culture. As a Performance and Conduct Case Manager, you’ll support fair and respectful workplaces by managing performance issues, conduct matters and behavioural risks. You'll work across sensitive and often complex cases, helping leaders and teams resolve issues and uphold organisational standards.
This is more than a case management role; it’s an opportunity to build your reputation as a trusted HR advisor. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, grow your confidence navigating complex situations, and contribute to real change within a department that’s focused on doing things better.
If you’re emotionally intelligent, calm under pressure and ready to develop your skills in a high-performing team, this is your chance to make a difference. Plus, with a major recruitment round planned later this year, there’s a genuine pathway to permanency and career growth.
The Role
Deliver expert advice and case management support on workplace performance and conduct matters.
- Manage underperformance, bullying, harassment and Code of Conduct cases
- Coordinate reviews of action and internal dispute processes
- Support fair and timely investigations in line with APS policies and legislation
- Provide trusted advice to managers, executives and employees
- Contribute to initiatives that promote a respectful, accountable and high-performing culture
The Ideal Person
You’re a strong communicator with a high level of emotional intelligence and a natural ability to build trust. You may have experience in workplace relations, HR, compliance, investigations or case management—or come from a people-focused field where judgement, discretion and structure were key.
You’ll be calm under pressure and confident navigating sensitive situations. You’re also a team player, keen to learn and ready to contribute to a positive working environment.
This role is perfect for those ready to act up or move laterally within the APS, or for candidates outside government with strong transferable skills.
