Are you passionate about bringing people together and creating culturally meaningful events? Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Community Engagement & Events Coordinator to join the Recognition and Negotiations team. This is a full-time, two-year contract where you’ll lead the design and delivery of key events that celebrate and strengthen connection to Wadawurrung Country and Culture.
About the Role
This new role helps plan and deliver key events like Pilk Purriyn, NAIDOC events, and Reconciliation Week events, along with other internal and partner activities. Based in the Recognition and Negotiations team, you’ll work across the organisation to make sure events reflect Cultural values, are inclusive, and engage Members, stakeholders, and the community. From logistics to on the ground coordination and sharing Cultural stories, your work will support the vision of Paleert Tjaara Dja – Let’s Make Country Good Together 2020–2030, Wadawurrung's Country Plan.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver Culturally-grounded events that support Wadawurrung’s Country Plan
Lead end to end logistics including venues, catering, ceremony, AV, permits, and transport
Coordinate event spokespeople, develop runsheets, and prepare materials to support effective event delivery
Collaborate with the Communications team to promote events and tell Cultural stories
Ensure all events reflect Wadawurrung values and Cultural Protocols
Embed Traditional Owner voices and narratives into event design and delivery
Track outcomes and report on event success using feedback and engagement metrics
About You
Tertiary qualification in Event Management or equivalent (minimum 3–5 years’ experience)
Demonstrated experience in coordinating diverse, large-scale events
Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder relationship management skills
Highly organised, flexible, and solutions-focused
A deep appreciation for Aboriginal culture and community engagement
