Community Engagement Coordinator

Warrnambool City Council is looking for a strategic thinker and skilled communicator to take the lead in delivering high-quality, inclusive engagement that puts the community at the centre of our decisions.

As our Community Engagement Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in delivering on some of Council’s most important strategies — helping to shape a healthy, connected and forward-thinking community.

About the Role
The Community Engagement Coordinator will provide leadership, project management, and engagement expertise to support major strategic initiatives such as the Council Plan, Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, and Community Engagement Policy.

They will drive the use of innovative engagement methods, including our online engagement platform — to maximise community participation and meaningful feedback.

Coordinate an organisation-wide approach to engagement, building strong internal relationships and growing capacity across departments, and work closely with the Communications team to co-create timely, accessible and creative communications that support community engagement activities.

About You
We are looking for someone who has:

· Relevant qualifications – in community engagement, development, or a related field.

· Extensive experience in planning and delivering engagement projects that inform, consult, involve, and empower communities.

· A collaborative mindset, with proven experience in building an organisation-wide culture of community engagement.

· Confidence in public settings, including presenting and liaising with stakeholders from all backgrounds.

· Strong organisational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously.

The Benefits
This is a permanent full-time position with a current starting annual salary of $101,648.89 per annum, plus superannuation.
