Heavy Vehicle Engineer

Prain Consulting, a thriving heavy vehicle engineering consultancy located in Dandenong, Victoria, is seeking a talented and driven Heavy Vehicle Engineer to join our team. This role is central to the certification and compliance of heavy vehicles and their components.

Your Role & Responsibilities:

Certify heavy vehicles and components by preparing detailed engineering reports that demonstrate compliance with relevant standards.

Conduct thorough physical inspections of vehicles, systems (e.g., suspension, braking, steering, towing), and structures at various client sites.

Assess compliance against critical Australian and international standards, including Australian Design Rules (ADRs), Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), and UN ECE regulations.

Perform necessary calculations, simulations, and testing to ensure safety, performance, and regulatory adherence.

Collaborate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver technical solutions and achieve project goals.

Provide technical support to staff as required.

What You'll Bring:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience in the heavy vehicle industry, preferably in a consultancy or manufacturing setting.

Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude, with problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize your workload efficiently.

A valid Driver's License.

Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is essential.

Experience with FEA analysis is highly regarded.
