About the role

As a Mechanical Engineer at Ultimate Plant Trailers Pty Ltd, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative mechanical solutions for our leading range of plant trailers. In this full-time position based in North Geelong, VIC, you will play a crucial role in driving the company's engineering capabilities and contributing to the ongoing success of our products.

What you'll be doing

Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that all the technical aspects of builds are met.

Understand and manage compliance with Australian Design Rules and Relevant Standards.

Prepare Assembly Instructions, drawings, BOM’s, and Produce accurate CNC Cut Files.

Design and develop new mechanical components and systems for plant trailers, ensuring they meet safety, quality and performance standards

Conduct detailed analyses and simulations to optimise the design and functionality of mechanical systems

Collaborate closely with the production team to oversee the implementation and testing of new designs

Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement efficient, cost-effective engineering solutions

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in the mechanical engineering industry

Prepare detailed technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications and reports

Provide technical support and guidance to the broader operations team as required

Run FEA analysis on designs, create prototypes

Design, model, and deliver detailed drawings of trailers and truck bodies for manufacturing & tender purpose.

Proficiency in 3D modelling and drafting using Autodesk Inventor.

Generating and maintaining technical documentation; concept designs, schematic designs, and manufacturing drawings.

What we're looking for

Must have Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Must have experience with Heavy Transport Equipment

Must have Experience with Truck body, Semi Trailer, Low Loader and deck widener designs

Understanding of ADR and manufacturing processes

Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar mechanical engineering role, or manufacturing industries

Proficient in CAD software and modelling tools, with a strong understanding of mechanical design principles

Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills

Experience with project management and the ability to work to tight deadlines

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams

Knowledge of relevant Australian standards and regulations in the mechanical engineering field
