Landstruct is a multi-award winning, commercial landscaping business operating predominantly within the Eastern/South-Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Based in Keysborough, we’re on the lookout for a Cost Estimator to help elevate the business to the next level.

If you’re the person we’re looking for, you’ve been in the construction industry now for 10+ years, not necessarily all in estimating, perhaps even come through the ranks as a tradesman in earlier years. Your experience is preferably in landscaping, but if you come with civil or general construction experience that will be welcomed too. Regardless of your exact experience though, you have a passion for landscaping and enjoy the devil in the detail.

Whether you’re the lead estimator or part of an estimating team right now, you may have hit the ceiling with your progression. That jump in your career just isn’t there at the moment, or maybe you’ve just stagnated in your learning. Or perhaps the work life balance you have just doesn’t quite align with what you’re looking for.

This role, whilst very rewarding, is a challenging role whereby you’ll always be learning, needing to problem solve regularly, both independently and with the support of the office team. Your role will involve:

Conducting site assessments and liaising with clients around project scope and timelines

Completion of take offs (when applicable), estimating, quoting and tendering on invited and open public tenders for landscape construction projects

Consulting with clients, landscape architects, suppliers, subcontractors and other stakeholders when reviewing and formulating estimates and pricing and resolving any cost estimate issues

Supporting the Director with presenting quotations and estimates onsite in person to our clients

Account management and relationship building with existing clients

CRM management, tender negotiation inclusive of follow ups of outstanding quotes and tender interviews – with another member of management team

About You:

5+ years experience as an Estimator or QS in the construction industry

Ability to interpret project drawings, specifications, and contracts

Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and cost estimation principles

Can demonstrate strong financial acumen around margins and costings

Experience in preparing tenders (ideally government/council) from start to finish

Possess a growth mindset and take full accountability for your actions and your work

Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Take pride in your presentation and are comfortable speaking with and presenting quotes to clients

Construction background preferred

Hold a current driver’s license
