Finance Manager – Multi-Entity | Hands-On, High-Trust Role

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of approximately 12 privately owned business entities. This role offers scope, autonomy and variety, ideal for someone confident managing multi-entity finance, with strong attention to detail and a phone-first approach to stakeholder communication.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Director, you’ll:
Oversee financial operations across all Xero files
Supervise payroll processes for approximately 70 employees (managed internally or externally)
Manage lodgement of BAS, superannuation, payroll tax, insurances, and council/land tax
Reconcile trust accounts and support audit preparation
Deliver monthly internal financial reports with commentary and recommendations
Liaise directly with external accountants to support compliance and strategic reporting
Lead and support a small internal finance/admin team (domestic & offshore)
This is not a pure strategy role; you’ll provide reporting and insights but leave the tax and structural planning to the external accountants.
About You
You’ll be a great fit if you:
Have proven experience in finance or bookkeeping across multiple entities
Know your way around Xero and can keep files audit-ready
Are confident overseeing payroll, even if you don’t run it yourself
Can manage compliance tasks with ease (BAS, super, loan repayments, etc.)
Communicate well, you pick up the phone to resolve issues, not just send emails
Are comfortable leading a small team and juggling competing priorities
