What is the Ability Roundtable?
The Ability Roundtable was established in 2013 to provide by-the-sector, for-the-sector benchmarking and service improvement activities in the disability services sector by providing a confidential and trusted platform for disability service providers to benchmark their services across Australia. The Ability Roundtable provides the opportunity for participating organisations to uncover and share innovations and service improvements through Roundtable communities of practice rapidly accelerates efficiency and effectiveness of services, leading to better service outcomes for customers. The Roundtable is governed by its own Board and supports a growing membership of more than 80 organisations with around $9billion in combined revenue, including many of Australia’s leading disability service providers.
Primary Purpose of the Role:
The Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting data management systems, working closely under the guidance of a Data Scientist. This position involves proactive collaboration with the team to facilitate efficient data collection and importation, conduct thorough data analysis, and support the creation of compelling data visualisations. By assisting in the development and maintenance of reports, the Data Analyst ensures that data is not only accurate and accessible, but is also presented in a way that enhances understanding.
Beyond technical tasks, the Data Analyst contributes significantly to strategic decision-making by delivering insights that are grounded in data-driven, evidence-based analysis. These insights empower key stakeholders to make informed choices that align with business goals and improve operational and support outcomes. By translating complex data into meaningful narratives, the Data Analyst helps to bridge the gap between raw information and actionable intelligence, ultimately contributing to an environment of continuous improvement across the membership group.
Key Accountabilities
Data Analysis & Reporting
Collect, cleanse and validate benchmarking data from member organisations to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Use databases to efficiently store, manage, and extract data to support reporting and analysis.
Perform exploratory analysis to identify trends, patterns and actionable insights.
Support the development and maintenance of interactive dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI or Tableau, ensuring they are user-friendly and aligned with stakeholder needs.
Conduct user acceptance testing for dashboard and data features, ensuring functionality and usability.
Translate complex data findings into clear, concise visualisations and narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Stakeholder engagement
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the analytical components of dashboards and reports meet business and user requirements.
Provide training and support to stakeholders in accessing and interpreting dashboards and reports.
Present analytical findings and platform updates to the team in online and face-to-face meetings.
Strategy & Governance
Ensure compliance with data governance frameworks, privacy legislation and contractual obligations.
Maintain documentation of data processes and methodologies
Support risk management practices related to data integrity and platform reliability.
This is a full-time permanent role working from home. Interstate travel will be required.

Essential requirements:
Unrestricted Right to Work in Australia
University Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field.
Minimum 3 years' experience in a Data Analyst role or similar.
Experience working with relational databases and querying languages, including SQL.
Demonstrated experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau and/or similar.
Proficiency and commitment to data governance, privacy compliance, and ethical use of data.
Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
Strong technical writing skills for documenting data processes, methodologies and findings.
High attention to detail with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Compliance with pre-employment checks (including Worker Screening Checks).
Desirable
An understanding of the NDIS legislative and reform environment.
Familiarity with service benchmarking frameworks.
Experience in the context of disability services, or within the broader care and support sectors.
