Bare is a company dedicated to providing accessible, affordable end-of-life care. Our mission is to change the way people deal with death.

5% of deaths in Australia are now handled by Bare. This number is growing rapidly and we are looking to bring in capable talent that will become future leaders of our business.

Launched in late 2019, we've grown exponentially, having served more than 50,000 families, becoming Australia’s most awarded end-of-life provider (with awards in customer service, innovation, and digital disruption), and having built a team of more than 100 people committed to changing the way Australians deal with death. And we’re just getting started.

The Opportunity

At Bare, product and technology are at the heart of both our customer experience and internal operations.

Our challenge?

Translating business problems into clear, actionable requirements for our engineering team. Those business problems, unlike many businesses, will not be found in spreadsheets or powerpoint decks. They're found in the experiences of our arrangers, they're found in the day-to-day of our mortuary operations, and they're found in the unspoken words of our customers. This role requires you to get deeeep into the weeds, really understand how our business works, and then translate those problems into a form that can be picked up by the engineering team to solve.

The role will report to our VP of Product, and work very closely with the VP Engineering, but will touch the entire business. You could expect to:

sit with our frontline teams to understand their pain points and how we can address them

get deep into the weeds on our CRM, automations, processes, and app to understand exactly how they work

spend time with our mortuary teams, on the road with our delivery teams, and speaking directly with customers and suppliers

draft detailed requirements for our engineering team to ensure they are building the optimal product

conduct testing and QA for our new product builds

This is not a Scrum Master role for someone who primarily coordinates others. Nor is it a traditional product manager role, where you're entirely tech/product facing. It is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys problem-solving across business, operations, and technology

This is an opportunity for someone who is tired of spending too much time in slide decks, product management software, document drafting, or Excel and instead wants to apply their talents to a tangible business making a real impact.

The ideal candidate will:

be super analytical and curious about things work and come together, and willing to spend time 'doing the job' to really understand the practicalities of running a tech-enabled funeral business

have experience in translating business problems and opportunities into requirements that can be picked up by engineering teams

have experience in building no-code/low-code solutions to problems that can be solved without a custom-built solution (and be willing to do it again)

be happy to take initiative and do things without being told exactly what to do

value speaking with front-line staff to understand their problems and how we can do things better

love coming up with and implementing practical solutions to problems (which may include stitching together different solutions, found in different places)

Most importantly, we want someone who believes in our mission. Everyone at Bare is driven by the impact of what we’re doing, and we want to make sure that continues with every new hire that joins our team.

What’s in it for me?

Our employee NPS is extremely high, and for good reason. We trust our team to do amazing work, and provide all the tools, support, and encouragement to work autonomously. We are totally driven by the customer experience, and do everything we can to ensure like-minded people join the team and love what they do.

In addition, we offer:

great opportunities for personal growth, promotion, and career development

the ability to work-from-home - with lots of autonomy and flexibility

a friendly, fun, and supportive environment - people love what they do at Bare

the chance to make an impact at one of the most critical moments in someone’s life

The main reason you will join, however, is because you believe in what we do and are excited about truly transforming an industry.

To join us - apply now with a CV and cover letter!

Please note, once your application is screened the next step will be to take a 60 minute online exam to test your problem solving and logical thinking skills.
