La Piazza at Bankstown Sports Club is looking for a motivated and experienced Head Chef to lead our iconic Italian restaurant.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated full-time Head Chef to lead the iconic restaurant and kitchen operations. You will be the first in command and will create and inspect dishes before they arrive at the customers ensuring high quality service. You will manage a team of kitchen hands, cooks and chefs to ensure efficient and effective service.

Responsibilities will include:

Maintain high level food standards in line with the vision of the brand

Mentoring staff members and promoting staff succession planning

Handle food storage activities & ordering of goods

Monitor pricing from suppliers to ensure cost of goods is maintained

Rostering of staff in line with business demands and in line with labour budgets

Control and direct the food preparation process and any other relative activities

Construct menus with new or existing culinary creations ensuring the variety and quality of the servings

Approve and “polish” dishes before they reach the customer

Plan orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages

Oversee the work of, and provide ongoing training, to subordinates

Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards

Work Health & Safety responsibilities

Handle all escalated customer queries and complaints

Essential Criteria:

Minimum 2-3 years as a Head Chef with an excellent record in a busy restaurant environment

Strong knowledge of Italian Cuisine and preparation methods

Ability to work in a high volume and fast paced environment

Demonstrated leadership skills - able to motivate and upskill a team

Exceptional proven ability of kitchen management

Outstanding communication and leadership skills

Up to date with culinary trends and optimised kitchen processes

Credentials in health and safety training

Relevant qualifications

Working rights in Australia

You must be able to work a rotational roster; days, nights and weekends including public holidays
