About This Opportunity

Join one of Australia's leading research institutions and help shape impactful research partnerships as a Senior Research Contracts Officer at The University of Queensland. In this fast-paced and collaborative role, you will play a key part in making it easier for industry and research partners to engage with UQ by delivering high-quality, timely contract development and review services. You'll work across a diverse portfolio of agreements-ranging from research collaborations to data sharing-and ensure our researchers can focus on delivering outstanding research outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your expertise in contract negotiation and stakeholder engagement in a role that supports innovative research across a global university.

Shorter duration, fixed term opportunities may also be available and can be discussed during the interview process

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare, review, negotiate and coordinate the execution of a wide range of research-related agreements in line with UQ policies and partner requirements.
  • Provide timely, expert advice and support to researchers and stakeholders, ensuring a high standard of customer service and risk-informed decision-making.
  • Support and mentor junior team members while contributing to efficient triaging, quality assurance and continuous process improvement.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex contractual issues, contribute to governance and compliance activities, and support cross-functional initiatives.

About You
  • Proven experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a high volume of research or commercial contracts in a complex environment
  • Strong understanding of research administration and relevant university policies, with the ability to interpret and apply regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and provide clear, practical advice
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and deliver results under pressure
  • Experience mentoring team members and contributing to a positive, customer-focused team culture
  • High level of attention to detail and proficiency in business systems and contract management tools

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
