KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The Rangers Project Assistant is required to:
· Provide day-to-day administrative support including record keeping, data entry, filing, and communications
· Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting minutes
· Support the planning and delivery of community events, training sessions, and on-Country activities
· Coordinate travel, accommodation, and logistics for the ranger team and program visitors
· Maintain and update program records, registers, and digital forms
· Assist with procurement processes, petty cash handling, and office supplies management
· Liaise respectfully with Traditional Owners, community members, and partner organisations
· Support compliance and reporting requirements as needed
Key Skills and Attributes:
· Strong organisational and administrative skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication
· Ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
· Good time management and ability to prioritise competing tasks
· Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence using digital platforms
· Familiarity with Aboriginal cultural protocols, Traditional Owner engagement, and Land/Sea Country frameworks
· Experience working with Indigenous communities, especially in natural resource management or ranger programs
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate respectfully across cultures
· Financial administration skills, including petty cash management, invoicing, and basic budgeting or procurement processes
· Time management and prioritization abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
· Experience supporting HR processes, such as assisting with timesheets, onboarding paperwork, or maintaining staff records
· High attention to detail, especially when handling data entry, correspondence, or official documentation
· Understanding of confidentiality and information handling protocols, particularly in a culturally sensitive environment
· Willingness to learn, adapt, and undertake training relevant to the role
· Experience with government or not-for-profit reporting requirements (e.g., compliance, funding acquittals, etc.)
The successful candidate will be required to respect Wulgurukaba established and/or emergent Traditional Cultural protocols whilst planning or delivering Yunbenun Ranger activities on land and sea country.
