Lifeline WA is looking for a dedicated Aboriginal Community Engagement Coordinator to help achieve positive outcomes through the delivery of an exciting new program that raises awareness and supports help seeking behaviours to reduce suicide in regional communities throughout WA.
To ensure the effective and culturally appropriate delivery of these services, the occupant of this position must be of Aboriginal descent in accordance with Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA). Lifeline WA is the state’s leading provider of crisis support and suicide prevention services. Over the past year, we have supported over 100 000 people with the provision of counselling, specialist support groups, and training programs. As a NFP, Lifeline WA’s purpose is to prevent suicide, support people in crisis, and reduce the stigma that can be a barrier to seeking help. Our vision is a community free of suicide.
ABOUT THE ROLE
To coordinate the service delivery of the Lifeline WA Ambassador program in regional areas of WA through positive partnership with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) and nurturing relationships with Aboriginal communities, funding bodies and other stakeholders.
The Aboriginal Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the following:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Promote the Lifeline WA Ambassador program to ACCHOs and negotiate Servicing Agreements within the project plan timeframes
Undertake a community engagement process with Aboriginal communities to unsure an understanding of social issues and challenges affecting the local Aboriginal community and that protocols to obtain endorsement for Lifeline WA to deliver the program on Country is received from the Traditional Custodians.
Ensure Lifeline WA training commitments and KPI’s are met in accordance with the project timeframes and program budgets
Meaningful campaigns and workshops are delivered in regional communities to promote Lifeline WA purpose and raise awareness of mental health supports and services
This role is part time, 20 hours per week, fixed term until the 30th of June 2026

The Successful candidate will have:
Experience working with Aboriginal people, ACCHOs and communities
Experience in a coordinator role, with a proven ability to develop and deliver communication and engagement strategies in remote communities
High level of interpersonal and communication skills and able to communicate effectively and engage with relevant organisations and community members
Excellent organisational skills, including multitasking, time management and attention to detail
Independent worker, with the ability to take ownership of and drive initiatives and stakeholder experience
Proficient with MS Office software including Word and Excel
