The Youth Disability Advocacy Network Inc. (YDAN) is Western Australia’s peak organisation for young people with disabilities (YPWD), seeking to address the exclusion of young people with disability in a rapidly changing society.
We are the leading voice of YPWD in WA, ensuring they are respected, valued, and listened to in all aspects of life.
THE ROLE
Are you an experienced Project Coordinator looking for a healthy work-life balance and to make meaningful change? This role is a 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week) 12-month contract without possibility of extension. The role works primarily from our office in Nedlands with opportunity for flexible working arrangements. The pay rate starts at $43.08/hour (SCHADS 4.1) with generous Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) exemptions available.
The Community Attitudes Project Coordinator will work closely with the Programs Manager, to ensure the successful completion of project deliverables by:
Developing project schedules
Creating project resource allocation in line with project budget
Identify and manage risks to project deliverables
Organise and deliver key project milestones
Supporting completion of comprehensive project progress reports
Ensuring all project documentation is accurately maintained
Organise and supervise project support officers
Overseeing day-to-day operations regarding logistics of project activities
Support post project evaluation
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This project is funded by the Inclusion and Access Fund as part of Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021–2031 aiming to address community attitudes towards disability. This project aims to shift public attitudes towards people with disability through a co-designed mass media and social media campaign. The campaign will target key social areas—employment, leadership, and community life. The campaign key message will be co-designed, with ads featuring people with disability from a range of intersections, such as youth, First Nations people, LGBTQIA+, CaLD, seniors, as well as representing a range of disability types, to accurately represent our disability community. Campaign variations will address outcomes as per the Australian Disability Strategy.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Strong understanding of youth issues and the disability sector in WA. This is a living experience role for people with disability as per Section 66 of the WA Equal Opportunity Act 1984.
Demonstrated experience with project coordination, including managing timelines, resources, and documentation.
Demonstrated experience in co-design and consultative processes
Demonstrated highly developed presentation skills, including creating a presentation, delivering reports, preparing briefings about project outcomes and good news stories
Demonstrated experience of coordinating small scale events
Demonstrated experience of working in culturally sensitive ways
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills in a variety of settings
Strong computer literacy skills
Relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES

Self-motivation and ability to deal with a high level of responsibility
Adaptability and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team
ELIGIBILITY
You will be required to obtain a current National Police History Check and Working with Children Check (WWCC) prior to commencement of employment.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations, media, journalism or another relevant discipline or equivalent and appropriate experience.
Experience with high-level project decision-making and documentation.
Experiencing in designing and delivering a campaign.
Experience working with young people or people with disability is highly desirable.
Knowledge of co-design, youth-led projects and the importance of centring young people, and their voice, in project development and delivery
