EARTH AI is a fast-growing tech startup transforming the way critical metals are discovered. Founded in 2016 in Sydney, we are on a mission to secure the future of technology and infrastructure by responsibly sourcing the metals essential for global advancement. Using cutting-edge technology, we identify and develop new metal deposits with unmatched efficiency and sustainability. Our vision is to lead the industry by discovering and owning the majority of future metal deposits while becoming the most advanced, efficient, and responsible metal commodity company in the world.

We are seeking an experienced Exploration Drilling Operations Manager to oversee and manage all drilling operations for our projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of at least 10 years in the drilling industry, including 5 years in an operations management role, and a deep understanding of drilling technologies, operational safety, and team leadership.

This role offers a balanced mix of office and onsite work. Candidates must be based in Sydney or open to relocating.

Earth AI is a full-stack exploration company, so flexibility in adopting unconventional business models is essential.

Equipment:

  • We operate a fleet of young Atlas Copco CS14 drill rigs. You will also use proprietary hardware that will help you be fast, efficient, organised and involves minimal manual handling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of drilling operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and operational standards.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor drilling teams, including field personnel, engineers, and contractors.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimise performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • Collaborate with management teams, geologists and clients to coordinate drilling activities and resolve any issues or challenges that arise.
  • Monitor the performance of drilling operations and provide regular reports to the executive team on progress, issues, and corrective actions.
  • Implement and uphold a culture of safety and operational excellence, ensuring that safety protocols and risk management processes are strictly followed.
  • Identify and evaluate new drilling technologies and techniques to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Manage stocktakes, resources, and materials required for drilling operations.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a driller with a deep understanding of drilling techniques, equipment, and best practices.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an operations management role at a Drilling Company, including leadership and team management responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery in complex drilling operations.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Certification or Bachelor’s degree in Drilling, Engineering, Operations Management, Geology, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • HR Licence.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Benefits:

  • Full-time position.
  • No clients, drilling only internal exploration projects. There is always work.
  • Travel & meal expenses covered.
