Do you have operations experience with a background in waste management or environmental services? We’re seeking a hands-on, highly organised Operations Manager to take charge of daily operations at our waste facility and lead the delivery of multiple mulching & environmental contracts across Western Sydney.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our busy waste processing facility while overseeing the planning, execution, and performance of our environmental and mulching projects. This is a key leadership role requiring strong operational, people, and project management skills to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Operations

Oversee the daily operations of the waste facility, including processing, logistics, equipment, maintenance and compliance.

Ensure all work is conducted safely and in accordance with EPA and WorkSafe regulations. (daily inspections)

Manage site infrastructure and assets to reduce downtime and maintain productivity.

Mulching & Environmental Contracts

Coordinate mulching contract operations from end to end – scheduling, logistics, team management, and client communication.

Ensure contract milestones and quality standards are met on time and within budget and communicate with the client.

Work closely with staff, clients, suppliers, and local councils.

Team Leadership

Supervise, train, and support a team of site operators and drivers.

Foster a positive safety culture and lead operational briefings.

Handle staff and equipment scheduling and compliance.

Logistics & Resource Management

Manage site materials, vehicle and plant maintenance, and stock control.

Coordinate transport of mulch and processed waste to and from job sites.

Manage the staff schedule and deal with any issues that may arise (e.g. broken down machinery)

Reporting & Compliance

Maintain accurate records for site operations, plant and equipment registers, EPA reporting, and contract deliverables.

Prepare regular reports for management on performance metrics, safety, and financials.

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re a proactive, solutions-focused leader who takes pride in delivering high-quality outcomes. You should also have:

Minimum 2-3years’ experience working in operations role, ideally in waste, recycling, civil works, or environmental operations.

An effective leader of growing teams and a collaborative team player, always putting business needs first.

Strong knowledge and understanding of WHS, EPA, and environmental compliance regulations.

Demonstrated experience managing schedules, contracts and multi-site operations.

Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.

Experience working with heavy equipment and machinery (tickets/licences advantageous).

Current driver's licence
