Pre-opening Head Chef Wanted for Island Restaurant
We're seeking an experienced and ambitious Head Chef to join our team on Dunk Island, a stunning tropical paradise located 2 hours south of Cairns and a 30-minute boat ride from the mainland. Our 80-seater restaurant and bar offers breathtaking ocean views, and we're looking for a culinary leader to help us deliver exceptional dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Curate menus that showcase fresh, locally sourced ingredients
Manage food costs, maintain profitability and complete stocktakes
Lead and manage a small team of kitchen staff Multitask and work hands-on in the kitchen (85% of the time)
Maintain a positive, can-do attitude and work collaboratively with the team
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a similar role
Strong skills in various cooking methods
Experience in menu planning, cost control, and people management
Ability to work independently and as part of a team Positive, flexible, and proactive attitude
A minimum 1-2 year commitment
