About the role

We are seeking an experienced and talented Head Chef to join our team at the Kirra Beach House in Coolangatta, QLD. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for leading our kitchen and ensuring the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This is a full-time position that will allow you to showcase your culinary expertise and passion for creating delicious, innovative dishes.

What you'll be doing

Manage and lead the kitchen team, including delegating tasks, scheduling shifts, and providing training and development opportunities

Develop and implement seasonal menus that showcase the best local and fresh produce

Ensure high standards of food preparation, presentation, and quality control are maintained

Manage food ordering, inventory, and cost control to optimise efficiency and profitability

Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment in the kitchen

Collaborate with the restaurant management team to ensure seamless operations and exceptional customer service

Stay up to date with industry trends, techniques, and best practices to continuously improve the culinary offering

What we're looking for

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a similar senior culinary leadership role

Formal culinary training or qualifications, such as a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery

Demonstrated expertise in a range of cooking techniques and cuisines, with a focus on fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a kitchen team

Excellent time management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

A passion for food and a commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience for our customers

Knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations & inventory management

Proficient in wage & food cost control

Large group & events experience essential
