The opportunity
Vacenti is seeking a Full-Time Head Chef to join the catering team at our Marebello facility located at Victoria Point. Reporting to and working closely with the Chef Managers and Facility Manger, this role will be responsible for the delivery of great catering service to our residents, primarily through meal preparation and meeting residents' dietary requirements.
The Head Chef provides direction, leadership, and supervision to Catering Assistants, Cook/s, Chef/s and manages all functions of the kitchen. The role is highly varied and requires a broad set of skills, ability to multitask and a collaborative approach to how they work with the wider team.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Management of all kitchen functions, and staff.
Manage the preparation of meal & beverages for residents in accordance with Vacenti approved menu and assist where necessary.
Assist other departments with catering & beverage needs, and functions.
Manage supplier deliveries.
Manage the setup & pack up of catering events.
Manage & minimise waste, and inventory control.
Providing a clean meal preparation environment in accordance with high hygiene standards.
Ensuring health and safety practices are followed.
Meeting budget expectations, without compromising on meal quality, and dietary requirements.
Ordering of all consumables, and equipment, within budget limitations.
To be successful in this position you will need:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in similar roles.
A personal philosophy of honesty and integrity, and practical approach that is compatible with the Vacenti values.
Highly developed communication skills (written and verbal) and effective interpersonal skills.
A positive team-based attitude.
Initiative and the ability to work independently.
The ability to work in a busy environment and have good time management skills.
Very high attention to detail
Commitment to safe work practises.
Willingness to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and learn and cross train.
Relevant qualifications in meal preparation, and food safety.
To be considered for this opportunity you must have the right to live and work in Australia. If you are successful, you will be required to obtain a national police clearance prior to commencement.
