Alloway Farm Market is a popular tourist and local fresh fruits and farm market store, located on Alloway Siding Road, Alloway.

The store supports a range of local produce suppliers, and contains a café, together with a fresh produce department with a wide range of high quality- speciality foods.

We are looking for a full-time Market Manager to oversee the operations of the business, that includes a small number of retail and kitchen staff, in a store that operates seven days per week.

The ideal applicant will have experience in marketing and business development, staff management and a good knowledge of the sourcing, storing, display and sales of fresh fruit and vegetables and other market products.

Reports to: General Manager, Alloway Farm Market, and/or the National Operations Manager.

Location: 1 Alloway Siding Road, Alloway, via Bundaberg

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Alloway Farm Market. The role includes a range of customer service activities (including assisting with produce sales) and food services for the operation of the Alloway Farm Market.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Key accountabilities and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Being responsible for the Farm Market store opening and closing protocols – including stock management, inventory control, cash and other security handling practices. This includes Monthly Stocktakes, entering receivals, and balancing Stock/Cash

Liaison with delivery supplies;

Assist with the recruitment of employees;

Supervision of employees;

Presentation of store; stocking of goods;

General cleaning;

Liaison with General Manager regarding stock control, returns; customer and supplier liaison;

Customer service – including café and farm market;

Ensuring compliance with Queensland food safety and food hygiene laws;

Delegations

The financial and human resource management delegations for this position shall be as determined from time to time in writing between the Employee and the General Manager.

Education, Skills & Experience

The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:

Previous experience working in a café or other take-away setting;

Knowledge of farm produce and food handling and safety techniques;

· Effective staff management skills and ability to resolve day-to-day workplace problems;

· Understanding of business development and marketing strategies;

· Good communication skills;

· Good attention to detail;

· Ability to work autonomously; and

· Ability to keep and maintain all relevant records required by the Employer to assist in the effective management and efficient operation of the Farm Market business.
