The Role
- Enforcing Parking restrictions under the Road Safety Act & Regulations, through promoting, educating, and advising the community on matters relating to Parking / Compliance matters including with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Instituting and assisting in the prosecution of offenders where required, whilst monitoring and assisting in the maintenance of Parking infrastructure such as ticket machines, pay stations and signage.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- As part of a team and within allocated work plan, monitor and patrol streets, car parks and other public areas to ensure compliance with Parking controls and whilst on patrol, respond to enquiries and provide information as required.
- Prepare and issue infringement notices for alleged breaches of the Road Safety Act and Regulations, Council Local Laws, and the Environment Protection Act, receiving and responding to requests for review of infringement notices issued.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with local traders and business owners, to promote and encourage voluntary compliance with Parking control measures, responding to requests for advice and information.
- Conduct daily inspections and perform minor maintenance of all ticket machines and Parking pay stations, noting and reporting missing/damaged Parking signage, and reporting incidences of more serious faults/damage to parking equipment.
To be considered for this role you should have:
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to handle conflicts and resolve issues independently.
- Organizational Abilities: Skilled in planning and prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication, with the ability to work well with diverse groups.
- Tech Savvy: Competent in using technology for enforcement tasks.
- Team Player: Must work effectively in a team and be committed to public service.
- Victoria Driver's License (valid)
- National Police Check (with Stat Dec) issued within the last 6 months
- Ability to commit to rosters with a proven track record of good attendance and punctuality.
