Due to continued growth, we are seeking to recruit a Finance Manager for our Tighes Hill head office on a permanent part-time basis, 21 hours per week.

Hybrid Part Time - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (preferrable)

About the Role

The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health, integrity, and compliance of the organisation. Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager, you will oversee all financial operations, provide expert analysis to support strategic decision-making, and contribute to the growth and sustainability of Newcastle Meals on Wheels.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee financial functions including accounting, reporting, auditing, and cash flow management.

Manage and lead fortnightly payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant Awards.

Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the Board, regulatory bodies, and funding agencies.

Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS statements.

Lead the annual budgeting process and provide financial forecasts and scenario analysis.

Identify and mitigate financial risks.

Support the execution of the Strategic Plan and contribute to long-term strategies.

Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.

Ensure ongoing compliance with ASIC, ACNC, and other regulatory bodies.

Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key to this role is the ability to contribute significantly to strategic decision-making by providing expert analysis and commentary, supporting the organisation's growth and sustainability.

About you

You will be a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for making a difference in the community sector. You will hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent (CPA/CA qualification highly regarded), and have demonstrated experience in a similar finance or accounting role, preferably within the not-for-profit or community services sector. Experience with financial management software (e.g. Xero) and a comprehensive understanding of Australian accounting standards, BAS/IAS requirements, payroll legislation, and compliance frameworks will put you in good stead for this role. Australian citizenship is required for this position.

A competitive salary will be offered based on experience, along with access to a professional development budget. Additionally, as a not-for-profit, Newcastle Meals on Wheels has the additional employee benefit of salary sacrificing arrangements. This allows employees to sacrifice up to $15,900 (set by the ATO, as an additional tax-free portion) in approved household expenses (e.g. rent, mortgage, utilities, meals, car leasing).
