Project Manager – Finance (Part-Time, Contract until 26 June 2026)

Location: Sydney CBD

Employment Type: Part-Time (0.5 FTE – 19 hours/week)

A rewarding opportunity exists within a Government Department for an experienced Project Manager – Finance to lead key reform initiatives and process improvement projects. This part-time role offers meaningful work with flexibility and the chance to shape high-impact financial projects.

About the Role

As the Project Manager – Finance, you will be responsible for driving the delivery of finance-related projects from planning through to implementation. You’ll work closely with key stakeholders to improve financial processes, manage project documentation, and support strategic initiatives within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end delivery of complex finance projects, ensuring alignment with scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain detailed work plans, capturing tasks, milestones and resource requirements.
  • Prepare high-quality project documentation including business cases, briefs, RACIs, workflows, training materials and presentations.
  • Facilitate workshops, training sessions and stakeholder presentations.
  • Lead ongoing initiatives such as stakeholder engagement frameworks and finance process reviews.
  • Provide expert advice on financial process improvements and project planning.
  • Monitor risks, track benefits realisation and report on project outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders through effective communication and collaboration.

About You The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience managing finance-related or cross-functional projects, preferably in a government or public sector setting.
  • A solid understanding of financial processes and a track record of delivering improvements.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable plans.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to lead consultations and workshops.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Qualifications or equivalent experience in project management or finance will be highly regarded.
