Kendall Community Preschool is a community-based, not-for-profit, quality early education learning environment located on the NSW mid-north coast. We are proud in being rated ‘Exceeding the National Standard’ in 2012, 2018 and 2025. The preschool is an accredited long day care service, licensed for 25 children aged between 3-5 years each day. Our small collaborative staff team work closely across all areas of the National Quality Standards to improve practice, procedures, safety and learning for all persons at Kendall Community Preschool.
The Role
Our Finance/Office Manager’s role requires strong financial and highly organised administrative skills to ensure the smooth running of Kendall Community Preschool’s finances, enrolment processes and general daily operations. The Finance/Office Manager will work closely with the leadership team of the preschool including the Director and Approved Provider. This role is permanent part-time, with negotiated flexible working arrangements.
As our Finance/Office Manager, you will:
Manage accounts to month-end, including balance sheet reconciliations, payables and receivables and ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, billing, and collections
Manage the enrolment process from initial enquiry to active enrolment in our SmartCentral software, ensuring all mandatory documentation is in place and providing friendly support to new families
Monitor and manage government funding claims and reporting, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and preschool policies
Implement and manage staff payroll, superannuation and leave entitlements
Implement, analyse and monitor budgeting and reporting of financials to the Director, Approved Provider and Auditor
Ensure processes and preschool premises are compliant in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, ACECQA and workplace health and safety standards
Use MYOB, Excel, Word, SmartCentral and the Childcare Management System (CCMS) to complete financial and administrative duties
Generate, maintain, update and archive preschool records in a secure and confidential manner
Perform general administrative duties such as ordering resources, applications, attendances, correspondence and document preparation
Welcome visitors, families and potential new enrolments to preschool including an orientation tour of the learning environments
Support the Director and staff in the daily operation of the preschool.
About You
We are looking for a professional with:
A qualification or equivalent experience in Accounting, Bookkeeping or Business Management
Experience and proficiency in payroll, managing accounts and finances, record keeping, funding proposals, budgeting and general administrative duties
Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise confidently with families, staff and children in a positive, sensitive and respectful manner
The ability to use basic software packages or willingness to learn, in particular MYOB, Excel, Word and SmartCentral
Knowledge of the Child Care Management System and the Children (Education and Care Services) National Law (NSW) and the National Regulations would be an advantage
Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and deadline management.
Decision-making skills to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
The ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously in a small team environment
Current First Aid Certificate, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training, and Child Protection training (the preschool can arrange for these to be completed)
Working with Children Check clearance (required prior to commencement)
Working rights in Australia.
