- A brand new, fixed-term role leading into mid-2026
The Shire of Capel is expanding its Community Development & Safety team to include a passionate and hands-on Youth Development Support Officer. If you’re passionate about creating opportunities for young people to connect, grow and thrive, this is your chance to make a difference in our community.
The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, halfway between Bunbury and Busselton. We are nestled between the beach and the forest and are one of the fastest growing coastal Shires in Australia. At the Shire we value Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork which underpin the way we work with our elected members, the community and each other.
Job Description:
Working alongside our Youth Development Officer, you’ll help coordinate youth programs, projects and events that deliver on the Shire’s Youth Strategy and Strategic Community Plan. From supporting youth collectives and community events to helping run vibrant youth spaces, you’ll play a key role in creating inclusive and engaging opportunities for local young people.
You’ll assist with planning, logistics, communications, volunteer coordination and on-the-ground delivery - helping ensure every initiative runs smoothly and reflects the voices of our youth. One day you might be helping plan an event, the next hanging out with teenagers at a youth space or supporting community partners to make great things happen!
You’ll fit right in with our Community Development team - a quirky, creative and proactive bunch who embrace the chaos, work collaboratively and bring big ideas to life. We’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic, organised, people-focused and ready to dive in to make a difference.
With new youth programs emerging and the long-awaited Dalyellup Multipurpose Community & Youth Centre (DMCYC) soon to open, now’s the perfect time to join the Shire of Capel and help shape what’s next for our young people.
The Rewards:
As part of our team, you will enjoy:
- Flexibility and support
- An inclusive culture where all our people are valued, EEO, diversity and differences are respected
- A strong focus on employee wellbeing and safety
- Full time, 19-day work month
- Base salary up to $68,000 per annum (up to $34.41 per hour), offered as a full-time 6-month fixed-term contract (to 30 June 2026)
- Annual leave loading of 17.5%
- Up to 14% Shire superannuation contribution
- Employee benefits program offering a wide range of discounts
