Located in the heart of the Daintree rainforest, an easy 2-hour drive north of Cairns along one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world, the Daintree Discovery Centre is the #1 attraction in the Daintree Rainforest.

The Daintree Discovery Centre is an award-winning world class interpretive facility that allows visitors easy access to every level of the Daintree Rainforest; from the forest floor to the upper most reaches of the canopy. Established in 1989 the Centre is widely recognised as a leader in the field of ecotourism, and in particular, environmental conservation. It provides an excellent introduction to the wonders of the Daintree Rainforest.

About the Positions

Reporting to the Centre Manager and working collaboratively with the customer service team, the Maintenance Coordinator position is responsible for maintaining Daintree Discovery Centre (DDC) grounds, infrastructure, facilities and assets to a standard befitting a world class eco-tourism destination. This is a full time position with weekend work forming part of a regular roster.

The Customer Service/Retail Assistant performs customer service, food handling and general retail at the Centre. This is casual position with weekend work forming part of a regular roster. Permanent employment opportunity may become available.

About You

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following.

Maintenance Coordinator:

Ability to effectively diagnose, repair and maintain various plant, equipment and machinery.

Sound knowledge of building and construction principles with the ability to confidently engage tradesmen to achieve business objectives.

Proven craftsmanship relating to repairing and maintaining timber buildings, structures and walkways.

Sound report writing and administration skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office, online portals and data bases.

Relevant trade level qualifications applicable to the position or significant relevant work experience.

Open manual “C” class drivers license.

Formal qualifications in Work Health and Safety, current First Aid and CPR a chainsaw ticket. and a current Food Safety Certificate would be highly regarded.

Both Positions:

A creative flair for developing and maintaining visual and interactive displays that generate first class customer experiences.

Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and develop good working relationships across a broad demographic.

Experience providing quality customer service principles in a fast paced environment.

Sound knowledge of environmental management practices, horticulture, flora and fauna highly desirable.
