Margot Bar is a busy but relaxed-vibe European-style espresso, wine and cocktail outdoor bar in one of Canberra's best locations - by the water at Queen Elizabeth Terrace. We have set the highest standards for quality and customer service, and built a loyal regular following.

The product operates from an onsite kiosk which provides our AM products of hot and cold morning drinks, toasties, and pastries. The PM product runs on Fridays - Sundays and offers pizzas, cheeses, cold beverages including wines and cocktails.

The successful applicant will be responsible for running a team of around 10-15 outstanding staff, and this role would suit an experienced assistant manager wanting to step up, or a café or bar manager who wants a better work-life balance.

About the role:

This is a full time position with some overtime likely over the busiest periods

Last drinks around 9pm, so minimal after-dark hours compared to restaurant or typical bar

The operation will be across two bars, with one focused on espresso & small bites, the other on alcoholic drinks & pizza

Admin work such as ordering and rostering can be done around your schedule

You will be responsible for the overall operation of the venue

This includes rostering for staff

Ordering of stock

Input on menu and drinks options

Managing Lightspeed & Mr Yum Ordering systems

Creating a fun and welcoming environment for our customers

A strong focus on customer service and creating outstanding experiences for guests

Knowledge of coffee and coffee making skills can be trained if you don't have it

Making and cooking pizza's and cocktails

What we are after:

Previous experience is an absolute must

Someone who presents well, and loves working with people

A fun and energetic person who can represent our café and bar in a positive way and set the highest standards

Someone who is detail orientated, great at communication, enjoys a busy environment and is able to juggle and reprioritise tasks as needed

Someone who enjoys being a part of a close, fun and supportive team

Experience with rostering a team

A demonstrated leader

Experience with coffee and or bar and pizza preferable
