Cartel Tacos is a fast-paced, high-energy restaurant group serving modern Mexican in Canberra. With summer around the corner, we’re looking to grow our Belconnen team.

One of our awesome chefs has had to return home overseas for personal reasons, so we’re now recruiting two new full-time team members:

Position 1: Full-Time Chef / Cook

Full-time position at our Belconnen venue.

No prior Mexican food experience required — full training provided.

Prepare and cook menu items at speed while maintaining consistency.

Assist with weekly prep days (Wednesdays, venue closed to public).

Maintain hygiene, food safety, and stock rotation.

Work collaboratively with a high-energy team during peak service.

Hours: Wednesday (prep only), Thursday–Sunday from 12pm until late. Closed Mondays, Tuesdays and public holidays.

Salary: From $75,000 + super (based on experience).

Position 2: Prep Cook / Kitchen Hand

Full-time support role, assisting chefs with bulk prep items (sauces, marinades, proteins, veg).

Responsible for cleaning, organisation, and stock rotation.

Transport stock between our Queanbeyan and Belconnen venues using the company’s refrigerated vehicle (full driver’s licence required).

Great entry role for someone wanting to build a career in hospitality.

Hours: Consistent full-time hours aligned with prep and service schedules.

Salary: Competitive, based on experience.
