Are you an accomplished professional in Treasury within the banking industry?

Have you consistently delivered strong results in your career?

Are you motivated to go the extra mile to generate value for your organisation?

Korea Development Bank (KDB), Korea’s policy bank, is establishing its Sydney Branch in the heart of the CBD to conduct wholesale banking operations in Australia. As one of the founding team members, you will play a critical role in setting up and stabilising the Branch. We are seeking an experienced Vice President (or Senior Vice President) – Treasury to lead and develop the Branch’s treasury function.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Treasury, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Branch’s treasury operations, including liquidity management, funding activities, and corporate deposits. You will play a hands-on role in managing daily cash flows, executing treasury transactions, and maintaining strong relationships with counterparties and corporate clients.

This is a dynamic position requiring adaptability, collaboration, and a strong commitment to professional growth. You will also be encouraged to broaden your expertise in wholesale banking and support the development of the Branch’s treasury capability.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor daily cash flows and liquidity positions, managing the Branch’s liquidity portfolio within policy limits.

Execute transactions (including corporate deposits, NCD issuance, and money market borrowings) to ensure sufficient liquidity and support asset growth.

Assist the Head of Treasury in maintaining and developing interbank counterparty and corporate client relationships.

Communicate effectively and professionally with counterparties to strengthen and expand the Branch’s funding networks.

Develop manuals and procedures for treasury and deposit operations in collaboration with the Head of Treasury and legal counsel.

Prepare daily (including LCR), monthly, and ad hoc reports relating to treasury and deposit activities.

Conduct regular stress testing on liquidity and market risks, perform local operational capacity (LOC) assessments, and test the contingency funding plan (CFP) annually.

Assist the Head of Treasury to support the preparation and submission of reports and data requested by internal and external stakeholders.

Prepare presentation materials for management and investors.

Conduct portfolio analysis and other treasury-related projects.

Perform additional tasks as required.

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of experience in treasury roles within the banking sector, including expertise in FX, money market transactions, securities, and derivatives.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean (written and verbal).

Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Professional qualifications such as CFA or FRM are highly regarded.

Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia.

This role is ideal for a proactive, self-motivated professional who thrives in a start-up environment and embraces challenges with a “can-do” attitude. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build lasting relationships are essential. If this sounds like you, please send your resume and cover letter to [email protected].

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interview.
