SUMMARY

Interim Senior Legal Counsel role leading corporate compliance and privacy programs across APAC, working with senior leadership on regulatory, governance and investigative matters. 3 to 6-month interim role.

THE COMPANY

A well-known FMCG company headquartered in Sydney with operations throughout APAC.

THE ROLE

You will work with the General Counsel to deliver legal and compliance support across business divisions, ensuring regulatory obligations are met. This interim full-time role is based in the Sydney office and offers flexible work options.

Provide legal advice on corporate, commercial and regulatory matters.

Oversee the corporate compliance program, identifying, assessing and mitigating regulatory risks.

Act as Privacy Officer, managing privacy programs and handling privacy complaints or concerns.

Conducted or oversaw compliance investigations.

Review and improve policies, processes and frameworks to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and organisational standards.

Support the Board and senior management in governance, compliance and risk management.

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced corporate law, compliance, and privacy professional. You can work independently in a small legal team and manage complex regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions. You balance legal risk with commercial objectives and effectively engage with senior stakeholders, boards, and regulators.

Proven experience as Legal Counsel, Compliance Officer and/or Privacy Officer, ideally with a top-tier private practice background

Strong knowledge of corporate law, regulatory compliance frameworks, and privacy obligations

Minimum 10 years’ post-qualification experience with a current practising certificate

FMCG experience is useful but not essential, as is exposure to APAC markets.

Ability to develop and implement proactive legal and compliance strategies

High professional ethics, sound judgement, and analytical capability

Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and build trust across all organisational levels
