The Pittwater Electorate Office is committed to serving the community. It is the point of contact for constituents and local community groups to engage with the Member for Pittwater regarding state government services and responsibilities.

About the position

Ms Jacqui Scruby, MP has an opportunity for an experienced office administration professional to join her small and dedicated team.

The Electorate Officer is the initial point of contact for all constituent enquiries. Administrative and secretarial functions are central to this role to support Ms Scruby to ensure the efficient operation of the electorate office.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the NSW Government and have a social justice approach to your work. Superior organisational skills, the ability to prioritise competing tasks and excellent communication skills are a must. You must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as in a team. Knowledge of the Pittwater electorate will be an advantage and you will be out and about in the electorate from time to time with Ms Scruby.

The role requires after hours work for which an annual All Incidence of Employment Allowance is paid.

Selection Criteria

  1. Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to others with empathy and consideration as well as to liaise with community groups, government and non-government organisations, ministerial offices and the media.
  2. Problem solving skills to assist constituents and contribute to policy development.
  3. Highly organised with excellent compliance with systems and processes including digital filing and CMS hygiene.
  4. Excellent writing skills including the ability to prepare correspondence with attention to detail.
  5. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities and deadlines whilst delivering high quality work
  6. Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgement and ability to perform at a high standard under limited supervision and within a team environment.
  7. An interest in, and understanding of, the NSW Government.
  8. Good word processing/keyboard/Canva and computer skills in an office environment.
  9. Assist with community engagement, grants and local event management and attendance.
  10. Social media and website management skills (desirable).
  11. ‘Can do’ attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
