Our client is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to support the assessment and delivery of development projects for a local council. This short-term contract offers the opportunity to apply your civil engineering and development expertise within a collaborative, community-focused organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and approve engineering construction plans and development applications for new residential and industrial projects
• Provide technical advice on traffic, drainage, and infrastructure design in line with council standards and legislative requirements
• Liaise with internal teams, consultants, and developers to resolve technical challenges
• Manage capital works and subdivision projects, ensuring delivery within budget and timelines
• Conduct site inspections, investigations, and prepare reports and recommendations
• Support continuous improvement of design standards, policies, and processes

Key Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Development or Project Engineer within local government or a civil consultancy
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure Design Manual (IDM) and Engineering Design and Construction Manual (EDCM)
• Solid knowledge of the Subdivision Act and experience with residential or industrial development projects
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication, with attention to accuracy and technical detail
