Proclinical is seeking a Project Engineer to join our client, a global biopharmaceutical leader renowned for innovation and improving patients’ lives. This 12-month contract role is based across Parkville & Melbourne CBD supporting the consolidation of the R&D office into Melbourne CBD site. The position is critical to coordinating the relocation, validation, and re-establishment of laboratory equipment within a GMP environment.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Project Manager & Lead, the Project Engineer will play a key role in coordinating the relocation of ~400 pieces of laboratory equipment, ensuring smooth transition, vendor management, and compliance with GMP standards. This is a hands-on role suited to a proactive professional with strong planning, contractor coordination, and technical experience in regulated environments.
Team Size: 3 (Project Management team)
Duration: 12-month contract
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Mon–Fri, standard 8:30am start, with some flexibility for early starts or occasional Saturday work. Penalty rates apply for >38 hrs/week.
Capacity: 5 days onsite
Location: Melbourne CBD & Parkville
WHV: Eligible if available to commit to full 12-month duration
Role Responsibilities
Coordinate the relocation of ~400 laboratory equipment items, including planning, packing, transport, and re-installation.
Supervise and manage equipment vendors, ensuring timely completion of all activities.
Oversee recalibration, qualification, and validation of relocated equipment.
Support general coordination tasks associated with the move of staff and laboratory operations.
Provide direction, follow-up, and ensure all tasks are completed in line with project schedules.
Identify and support opportunities to optimise existing site infrastructure during consolidation.
Liaise with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance with GMP standards and project requirements.
Skills and Experience
Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Science.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar project engineering role.
Strong planning, scheduling, and vendor management skills.
Knowledge of GMP environments and regulated industry practices.
Experience with validation and qualification of laboratory equipment.
Self-starter with the ability to interpret instructions and work independently.
Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving, and ability to deliver against deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to direct, supervise, and collaborate effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
