About Us

Arabana Aboriginal Corporation is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) for the Arabana People, whose Country spans a vast area of South Australia. We look after our culture, land, and waters while also creating opportunities in land management, tourism, business, and caring for Country.

We’re proud of our strong cultural identity and the role of community leadership. Everything we do is guided by Arabana values and governance.

Port Augusta isn’t just where we work – it’s where we live, connect, and thrive.

Hillsides to harbors – Enjoy scenic coastal views, spectacular sunsets, and endless outdoor recreational activities.

Strong community – A friendly town with quality schools, health care, shops, and events.

Purposeful work – A chance to make a real difference for community while enjoying the benefits of regional living.

About the Role

We’re looking for someone who enjoys meeting people and being part of community life. As our Community Engagement and Member Services Officer, you’ll be the first-person people see when they walk into Arabana House.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

Welcome members and visitors, and answer questions.

Support members with applications and updates.

Help share news through newsletters, social media, and notices.

Assist with planning and running events like meetings, NAIDOC, on-Country camps, and other community gatherings.

Support the General Manager and Board with admin tasks (like organising meetings and taking minutes).

Build respectful and culturally safe connections with members, Elders, and stakeholders.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same – one day you might be helping organise an event, the next you’re supporting a family with their membership application.

This is a permanent position located at Arabana House in Port Augusta, with some travel to Adelaide.

The Perks

Permanent part-time role (32 hours/4 days, with flexibility).

Work vehicle available during work hours.

Well-kept facilities with open spaces for members to connect.

Variety of work including community engagement, customer service, administration, and event support.

Career development opportunities and a chance to work closely with Arabana community.

A competitive pay package, based on your experience and skills.

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you:

Have experience in community engagement, administration, and/or customer service.

Are confident talking to people and building good relationships.

Are organised and able to multitask.

Have good communication skills, both written and verbal, to share information clearly.

Have basic computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel).

Have a current driver’s licence.

It would also be great (but not essential) if you’ve got:

Experience supporting Boards or committees.

Experience in event coordination and/or communications/marketing.

A Certificate IV in Community Services, Business Administration, or similar.

Experience supporting Aboriginal communities/organisations.

How to Apply

If this sounds like the right fit for you, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply by midnight Sunday 26 October 2025.

For enquiries, please contact Juliana Chambers, Arabana General Manager, on 0409 611 672 or at [email protected]

Applications will only be accepted through SEEK and need to include your resume and a cover letter that tells us about your skills, experience and how you meet the criteria in the 'About You' section.

Interviews will be held in the first week of November.

Please note that as part of Arabana’s recruitment process, prior to an offer of employment being made, recommended candidates may be subject to a medical assessment and pre-employment screening checks which may include alcohol and other drugs testing.

Your experience throughout the application process matters to us. All applicants will receive a response.
