About the role
Yarra Ranges Council is seeking a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner to join our Health, Safety and Wellbeing team. As a role model for health and safety, you’ll partner closely with leaders and teams across Council to provide practical advice, support and education. Your guidance will help drive initiatives that improve safety performance and foster a proactive safety culture.
You’ll ensure work practices align with legislative requirements and Council’s health and safety goals. Reporting to the Coordinator of Health, Safety and Wellbeing, you’ll support the ongoing development and review of Council’s Health and Safety Management System.

You’ll be responsible for:
Incident Management and risk mitigation
Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments
Assist in incident investigations, reporting, and corrective action follow-up
Consult with internal stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities for improvement
Manage HSW mailboxes and associated administration
Provide expert advice to employees on safe work practices and compliance
Deliver education and training that builds safety capability and awareness
Support the implementation of Council’s safety plans and actions
Contribute to the continuous improvement of HSW systems and processes
This position will be based at our Civic Centre in Lilydale; travel may be required to other sites and locations within the municipality.
This is a rare full-time permanent position with a salary range between $98,432 and $107,292 per annum (Band 6), plus superannuation.

Experience and skills we’re looking for:
Diploma or Certificate 4 in Occupational Health and Safety or significant relevant work experience in health and safety
Strong knowledge of incident management and risk mitigation and management
Strong knowledge of OHS legislation
Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to partner with employees and leadership at all levels
Experience in safety, wellbeing, or compliance roles
Proficient in using WHS platforms and systems
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
