Still the “safe pair of hands” – but never the one calling the shots?
You’ve built your technical skills. You’ve delivered projects. You’re the person people rely on when things need to get done.
But here’s the catch: you’re still stuck in the middle. Trusted with delivery, not with decisions. Running jobs in practice, but not in title. Watching opportunities pass you by because the business is too flat, too rigid, or too set in its ways.
Sound familiar?
This is where things shift.
The opportunity
Join a growth-minded engineering consultancy where you’re not just executing someone else’s plan, you’re running your own jobs, sitting across the table from clients, and shaping outcomes directly.
This is the step between an intermediate and senior engineer/team leader. You’ll start with ownership of your own projects and delivery, and as you prove yourself, you’ll move into senior engineering responsibility - leading a team, building relationships, and even developing new business.
Think of it like running your own footy team: the more the business thrives, the more you do. With shareholding and bonus opportunities, your growth is directly tied to the company’s success.
What you’ll get
✅ Ownership & influence – your projects, your decisions, your impact
✅ Clear progression to team leader – not a vague promise, but a genuine pathway baked into the role
✅ 100% flexible setup – remote, hybrid, or in-office, whatever works for you
✅ Unlimited leave + wellbeing support – actually used, not just offered
✅ Bonus and shareholding opportunities – your contributions directly rewarded, not overlooked
And beyond the checklist, you’ll also:
Work in a flat structure with no bureaucracy, trusted to get on with it, without red tape
Join a close-knit team that actually enjoys working together; no egos, just collaboration
Shape projects that leave a mark across QLD and NSW, backed by five decades of proven delivery
Be part of an employee-owned mindset, where your voice matters and you’re seen as a partner, not just staff
Learn alongside long-serving professionals while adding your own fresh perspective
What you’ll be doing
Based in the Sunshine Coast office, you’ll be a key structural engineer in a close-knit team, autonomous enough to make things happen, but with senior mentorship and group backing when needed.
Your day-to-day will include:
Running structural projects end-to-end, independently and confidently
Meeting directly with clients, contractors, and consultants—your relationships, your responsibility
Taking initiative to solve problems, spot opportunities, and push delivery forward
Mentoring juniors while preparing yourself for a formal team leader role
Is this you?
Already running projects or very close to it
Self-motivated and capable of working without hand-holding
Hungry for progression - ready to move past “mid-level” and step into leadership
If you’re frustrated by being boxed in, overlooked, or kept in that “almost senior” category, this role could be the one that finally moves you forward.
No need for a polished CV, just send what you have, or even a quick message on LinkedIn to start the conversation.
