About the Role
Melbourne Polytechnic is seeking a skilled and motivated Payroll Officer to support the effective delivery of payroll operations and advisory services. This is a great opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement, drive compliance and accuracy, and support collaborative team success in a purpose-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process payroll accurately and on time, including interpreting awards and agreements
Maintain payroll systems and ensure compliance with legislation and internal policies
Provide payroll-related advice to staff and management
Reconcile payroll data and prepare reports for audits and finance
Support system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives
Manage payroll enquiries and ensure high-level customer service
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including Finance, Government Agencies, and Super Funds
Skills and Experience Required
5+ years’ experience in a large payroll environment
Advanced skills in Chris21/iChris
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, accounting standards, and ATO requirements
High-level organisational and time management skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Detail-oriented with a solutions mindset
Additional Requirements
Successful candidate will be required to provide:
A valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC)
A National Police Check
