St Albert’s College was founded in 1969 and is an institution owned by the Catholic Diocese of Armidale, operating within the University of New England. The College is co-educational and houses up to 310 male and female residents. St Albert’s plays an integral role in the Catholic Church’s educational and religious mission and is a proud member of the University’s residential system. The College is animated by the Christian traditions of faith and learning exemplified in the life of its patron, St Albert the Great.
The Role:
The Precinct Manager is a Senior Position within the College. The role will have oversight of the upkeep and maintenance of facilities and grounds, will manage the cleaning and maintenance teams and work closely with contractors.
The Precinct Manager reports directly to the Executive of the College. A key focus of the role is to promote and maintain the high standards of infrastructure and services of the College while ensuring WHS compliance. The successful candidate will aspire to act out the College values, vision and mission in all daily interactions.

Key Responsibilities:
The Precinct Manager is required to:
Oversee and maintain the College amenities, grounds and facilities.
Develop and manage detailed preventative maintenance program.
Plan and oversee all repair, maintenance, and installation activities.
Maintain effective working relationships with maintenance contractors and suppliers.
Manage maintenance and grounds projects to ensure timeliness, correctness of standards and budget requirements.
Maintain current knowledge of legislative and WHS requirements with regard to the College’s operating environment, ensuring all records and activities are compliant.
Carry out inspections of facilities, electrical and mechanical systems of the building to identify functionality and resolve issues.
Make recommendations to the College Executive with regard to necessary capital works and other required maintenance and grounds investments.
Assist with the facilitation of setups and pack downs of events, College functions and general organisation of conference rooms.
Be empathetic to and fully supportive of the Catholic mission of the College.
Provide witness to the College and its community and model a collaborative style of leadership that reflects Christian values.
Promote, develop and maintain a College environment that has Catholic values as its core.
Finance and Administration of the College.
Support the management structures to ensure the effective and efficient running of the College.
Maintain an effective communication system within the College community.
Manage the day-to-day maintenance budget, and with strong direction to the maintenance team and external contractors.
Oversee and monitor the equipment inventory and place orders when necessary.
Engage contractors for immediate work repairs where required.
Assist onsite contractors where required including UNE Facilities & Services Staff.
Strategic Planning, Policy and Development of the College.
Participate in a range of College activities including the College Functions and staff meetings.
Enacting procedures under the direction of the Board and College Principal that gives form and direction to the vision of the College.
Be aware of and adhere to College policies and procedures.
Assist the College Executive in the maintenance and review of policies and procedures annually to ensure they are both accurate and relevant.
Ensure compliance with the College's Code of Conduct.
Industrial Relations and Legal Compliance.
Support the implementation of Work Health & Safety regulations and Child Protection Legislation within delegated areas in the College.
In collaboration with the Executive, ensure a safe working environment, supported by relevant policies, procedures, and resources.
Assist emergency services in the event of a fire alarm or other emergency.
Professional Development
Display a willingness to undertake PD opportunities as they arise.
Be an active member of relevant professional associations.
Keep abreast of current trends in tertiary education.
The ideal candidate will have:
Relevant management experience in grounds and gardens maintenance, ideally in a university or school setting.
Relevant education or training including trade certificates, licenses or qualifications.
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant industry legislation with regard to the operating environment to ensure risks are sufficiently mitigated.
Proven experience in managing a diverse team and delivering services to external and internal stakeholders.
Excellent organisational skills including the ability to determine priorities, attention to detail and meet regular deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to a team in a professional and collaborative manner.
A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety regulations as they relate to employment.
Additional requirements:
The position occasionally involves working outside business hours to assist with College functions and events, including Open Days and resident move in/out day.
The position requires the person to be available after hours to assist in the case of a precinct emergency.
A current Working with Children check (WWC).
